I know it!! A bird in the hand is worth two in the Bush! It's an old british saying and it means it's better to have a small advantage than the chance of a greater one. If that makes any sense.

Sweet!! I am a winner....I never win but sometimes random knowledge comes in handy. I can't remember where I heard that saying.....but it came in handy in retaining it!! So fun! I am looking forward to coming into the shop to pick out a surprise. -You need to post shellie's picture with Olivia....she told me she pushed Steve out of the way to get next to her in the pic because she was a way bigger fan!! Love it! Thanks for the prize! And thanks for not making the prize tomatoes or cucumbers!

Since I teach research, I cannot help myself :-)

“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,” also sometimes given as, “A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush,” is a proverb that seems to have originated in the 13th century.

The general message conveys that it is better to stick with something you already have, rather than pursuing something you may never get. This proverb points out that by passing up a sure thing for a more promising possibility, you also run the risk of losing both the sure thing and the promising possibility.

If you consider the origin time period: If you are holding a bird in the hand, you have your meal for the evening. If choose to let it go to pursue two birds you’ve spied in a bush, you may catch neither, and wind up hungry for the night.
