Something egg--stra SPOOKY is going on here...

It all started with the HALLOWEEN MOON SHINING in our bedroom window in the middle of a  NIGHTMARE...and the GOOSEBUMPS came, I wasn't about to get up and take a picture...sorry but it was too EERIE.

THIS FOGGINESS (is that a word?) was covering the fields early morning...more GOOSEBUMPS and SHIVERING CHILLS!

Mr. Bed of Roses eggs cracked open to this ...WHAT? Now it's getting EGG-STRA SPOOKY around here...If I didn't have to go set Christmas up at the shop...(That would be the NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS wouldn't it?) I would go HIDING UNDER the covers till this HAUNTING DAY is over!

Hope your day and my day is a HAPPY HALLOWEEN...it's been so much FUN sharing this season with all of you.  Ours surely isn't going to be the one we planned ( thanks to someones work schedule) and one broken vehicle.

the Fondanistafiles...you'll be amazed

I have a new screensaver photo  for the computer this morning...this is Shellies neighbor's cake from her cake decorating business. Here is her blog: http://www.thefondanistafiles.blogspot.com/   I nearly fell off my computer chair when I looked at it. Hope you don't mind Julie! Her wedding pictures are fabulous... the pumpkin is the grooms cake with the insides! Love it! Love how they mixed orange with black and pink!

I loved this blog this morning...

I loved Jennydoh.typepad.com  blog this morning...take a minute and read it. Click on to it where my list of blogs are on the side.
Going to the U-2 concert...and turning it into an inspiring story and teaching moment with her young daughter. I love all her blogs, this one especially.

Which reminds me...Where women create and a new blogging book came yesterday...spectacular. (Jeni doh editor and chief of these amazing books) Will post it sometime today. I'll be taking a few breaks at home to study them out...page per page, line per line!

Black & white vintage Christmas photos

Good morning... dear customers, I am in need of some small vintage black and white
Christmas photos era 20's-50's preferably.

My good news is that Nov. 3rd or 5th I will be doing a spectacular segment on Studio 5 with the theme of "Turning old into new and new into old...a glitzy quaint vintage Christmas."

I would need these photos possibly no later than this Wednesday if possible. They will not be changed or harmed in any way, just clipped onto a tree. And your photos will be on Channel 5, Studio 5! 11:00 a.m.

Will be sooo  busy with Halloween and Christmas this week, that will help ALOT from getting scared to go on tv...I am hoping!
Hoping someone can help me with this!

We will take $1.00 off your purchase for each pair that is brought in.

Also we had the most wonderful donation of  handmade tags by Sherri at punkrose, they are packaged beautifully, 3 to a package and 100% of the purchase will go towards the needs of the people in Ghana for a December delivery. As always...the tags are to die for.

Our deadline right now is Dec. 1

Okay...start cleaning out those drawers! ( we prefer the glass in the glasses not to be all scratchy).

Thanks to all of you and to the Brighteyes Foundation for this project.

What can I say?

Somewhere in Bountiful I drove past these legs coming out of the ground...they are kicking!
I could say alot of things but would rather hear what you are thinking...go ahead! (thanks Shellie for grabbing the picture for me).

A Special Angel was in our life...my other wing

Tonight I received the shop tags...along with my order came a wonderful suprise. Sherri had packaged up a very GENEROUS  amount of Humanitarian tags with 100% of the proceeds going to the Humanitarian work that Shellie is working on. We will sell these in the shop, each package just stunning as always. They are titled: As the purse is emptied the heart is filled.
I found one in the bunch which goes appropriatly well with my day. It goes: We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another.  That's got to be my favorite all time saying and will be forever. (I snapped pictures, however in my daze I misplaced the camera/computer cord).

It's been a hard day...glad they are few and far between. First of all I had an early scheduled mamagram, after all it is October National Breast Cancer awareness month...so please go get yours. This year started with my mother having a mastectomy, watching several customers going through breast cancer treatments, now my good friend who owns a shop just learned she has it too. Hoping my results will come back with good news, but then we do have to wait it out, don't we? I couldn't be any busier, but after hearing about a friend I picked up the phone.

The nursing home was next door to the hospital,  I walked in hoping to see our special "grandma Jean" whom I had done her hair for 24 years. I met her 35 or so years ago when I was pregnant with my first child and that's when I started to do her hair. She held each baby when she came and they grew to love her. When the kids got bigger she would empty her coin purse in their little hands  and they ran to handi mart of course you know what they bought.

When I opened the door to her room it was completly empty, she was gone. I asked the cleaning lady where is "our grandma Jean?" and thats when she told me she had passed away a few weeks ago.

Of course she had to pass me the kleenex...and she explained how she had only been sick a week and didn't suffer. I was just in shock, I knew she was in a better place, actually I was happy for her. She really wanted to be running around like she did selflessly her whole life. Always doing for another, always.  It's too hard for me right now to talk to much about the many visits and memories.

I guess what is really hurting is that for all those years she had her funeral all planned out, and we would laugh hysterically about how prepared she was to die, she was a great organizer...of course she lasted into her mid 90's (don't take tooooo many vitamins girls!) . So what I really feel bad about is that I didnt see it in the paper and I am so devestated that our family didn't attend her funeral, I am just crushed about it. I just hope she knows someway that I would never ever not go to it on purpose. We loved her so much. She was an angel of a woman. So I know where she is and she truely earned her reward, the best place that there could ever be in heaven.
Last evening we were at a viewing of another close friends 94 year old mother...I say the longer they are here the harder it is to lose them. You just get to thinking that they will always be here, they just aren't going to die, but then...they do.
God blesses us with special people in our lives doesn't he, and she is one that our families life would have been so different without her in it.  Thank you for Grandma Jean you were my other wing, and it will never ever quit being that way. ever.

Haunted Manor...welcomes you

Shellie is inviting all those who have been wanting to visit her Haunted Manor to come up next Friday evening Oct.16th. This will be a TREAT...guaranteed by myself, so customers and blogging friends come enjoy a fun evening with us, she would like you to let your "inner child" out of its box and dress up a bit, you can be real simple or go all out if you wish! I know some of you well enough to know that's not a problem!

Because we wont know exact numbers of guests, (yes you may bring a friend, daughter or relative),we would appreciate you bringing a favorite Halloween food or dessert so we can just hang out, munch and giggle and enjoy some outrageous home decorating for Halloween.

We will have a meeting place in main Bountiful for those who are a bit frightened to find the home in the dark.

Let her know as soon as possible your plans...email: swarren2@msn.com she would love to her from you. time is: 6:30-9:30 like an open house, come when you can.

P.S....I'm hoping Annie West can come with her camera and her girls!

WINDOW of WITCHES...now ready

Window of Witches...here is my collection, shellie calls it the wall of witches, which it is. This hangs in my entree way, as you can see I can add 7 more witch pictures to fill up the window. I suppose a Christmas collection would be next! The pictures are watercolor prints from Shellie and her art teacher Donna O Kearney. I taped them on the backside of the window.

Did you know that our SPIDER WEB RUNNERS are really clever to use as a window covering. I just pinned this one over the curtain rod. If you look close you can see the big Orange spider that is made into this runner. They make a great witches shawl too.

What's Hagatha looking for today?

Now Haggie's looking in OUR SHOP window...don't let her scare YOU!

I think she's here for some spooktacular Halloween soldered altered art neclaces, I mean...who wouldn't want one of these funnies and scaries to wear this month?

Or...she can smell the newly made carmel chocolate dipped pretzels, some rolled in almonds and m&m's , plus granny smith dipped apples? All for herself!
<
Maybe she needs our lime green/brown gift boxes to wrap her scaredy cat suprises inside.
<
Does she want our new shabby silver glittered skeletons to ride on her broom with her to light up the sky?

<

I hope our black sparkly hanging skeletons don't scare her away...even Hagatha's welcome at Just a bed of roses to do her Spooky Halloween shopping.

Since the items I mentioned in Yesterdays blog didnt arrive, I will assume the pictures of Thanksgiving etc will arrive today, and tags should be in shop on Wed. will blog new items Wednesday evening.

It's raining it's pouring...

It must be Conference weekend here in Utah...it's raining and pouring as you can see no mountains in sight. It always rains on Conference weekend.
We had been looking forward to this day ...seriously more excited than Christmas as we thought that between conference sessions the Choir tour we went on in June was going to be broadcast. However when emailing the choir office Friday they said it will be shown on BYU station maybe January. So until then...patience, it's a virtue!

Today as the program Music and the Spoken word was on, I thought my goodness I am doing well to sit here not crying like a big baby(for the first time in 3 months)...and then they sang the last song..."come thou fount of every blessing" and we both lost it. Beautiful heavenly choir people I highly respect and love for their NEVER ENDING SERVICE, sharing their talent of music singing Gods words to the world.

We look forward to this day of spiritual feedings in word, music and rest.

Also in between conference sessions I believe the interview with Elizabeth Smart will be shown...she is my hero. Also a Humanitarian group that goes into Guatamala...hopefully that will be our next excursion, SOMEWHERE serving others in another country. That's probably many of your dreams...make them come true.

Hope your day too is filled with what you need, have a very beautiful one.

My SPOoOoKIes...ARE BLACK LACE!

Last night my daughter Shelliewarrenartblog posted her new shipments of Halloween SPoOKIes, scarey, check them out...her very haunted mansion is coming together eerily and creepy and besides her music is disneys Haunted mansion and graveyard music...that's worth it right there, my favorites! See how many days there are until Halloween...ha ha!

This morning at 6:00 a.m. I tried ANOTHER photo shoot of MY SPOoOoKIes on the front porch. Isn't it amazing how the creepy little rats just hit the porch railing looking like they are crawling on it?

Love this witch coming right for the front door...eeeeek! Dont you love the swirly metal piece behind her, love how that turned out.

We have a NEW shipment of these panels, hang from porches like this, hang from ceilings from metal rods, windows, doors and doorways, sometimes you just have to show a partial showing of these panels...like just a skeletons head etc. going fast...26.95 a panel, neat black lace. FOR THOSE WHO LIVE OUT OF TOWN for $30.00 plus tax I will ship next day to you! We do paypal or visa card on line.

Mr. Bed of roses has been painting the whole porch...well, it hides this years fly specks...and specks of years past... lets not get me hissing about that subject so early in the morning. In the country you wash & paint porches AFTER the freeze, lets not forget windows too!
To all my sweet customers who wouldn't hurt a fly...you know who you are...well, you haven't lived here! I'm the devil when it comes to hating flies. Love the country, hate the flies kind of gal.
The handmade jeweled spiders came in...oh my gosh...I didnt think they could get any better, but they did! Going fast too...as fast as the new pretzels and caramel apples packaged in Halloween!

Black shabby sign with the neatest lettering for hanging!

And for the "mister" as Mimi Sue calls her man...seems that's all mine does is hoes the weeds down, it pays off, this is his reminder from the prophet.

Fall feather trees with peacock feathers coming in Friday, selling very reasonably.

Dream in Cream tea stained crackly antique plates, my favorite especially this time of year will be coming in Friday.

Happy Haunting to all and to all a good fright handmade pillow was a must have to buy.
I need a nap now...then must finish up the 4 witch hats to bring in.

Had I taken the battery for the camera off of the charger I could have shown you the neat places I shopped today...Kottage Kupboard boutique, The new Harrisville Deseret Industries where I found a long black velvet witch dress for $5.00 Then over to 25th Street Boutique, charming. Up to Rainbow Gardens for a quick Halloween pick me up, and now true confessions...I indulged at Farrs Ice Cream for a Rocky Road ice cream cone, couldn't help it!
Ogden can be a fun place to shop.
