Here a CHICK there a CHICK in spokane

Just in from the fabulous FARM CHICK EVENT in spokane
There was a time you could get there at 7:00 a.m. and be at least #12 in line...but not now days! (and it's okay!)

Inside the door is always a display to set off the theme and invite you in...isn't this sweet, oops, I mean TWEET? (paper bags that look like a birdhouse).

2 days of heavy duty shopping...seemed like a circus...but it was more entertaining and cost more than a circus!  Vendors phenominal with their goods flying off their displays.

One of our favorite finds, industrial piece, have no idea yet what is original use was. Mr. roses went one way shopping and I went another, we met up once in awhile to see what each had to haul off to the trailer. We shopped the show 15 hours! I think we deserve and earned a prize, in and out we hauled vintage finds!

I always wish I had taken a zillion photo's but then I'd miss out on the "good stuff", shoppers are quick now days.
I'll be back with more to blog about this show...need to go sort out which to keep and which to resell.
We also did 4 other days of antique/and thrift shop buying...I'll try to take some photo's of what we're keeping and also what will be coming your way...
If you go to the farm chick website there are a few thousand photo's people did instagrams with there.

Change is inevitable

Change came to us...beginning mid march. This sign officially made our property a CORNER LOT. It might seem itty bitty to some, at first to us it seemed okay, not anticipating the real process of developement. We were the first home out here 20 years ago among hundreds of farming acres. Not complaining, I like people and neighbors. It was dark which kind of scared me.

The dirt flies...lots of dirt that gets dug and stirred around, pretty much every day...12 or more hours per day. Our windows/porches get dirt coated. Noises like beep beep, humming/grinding of big trucks going back and forth, water lines get cut, the road in front sounds like thunder everytime someone goes over it...still, it's quite interesting.

Patience is needed. For the developer too, especially when it rained and turned to mud. I might just have to get me that fence on my wish lists. declutter my vintage piles, even more. (to keep up with the jones'  soon to come?)  Acre lots are alot of work. Am I whining? mmm... Probably!

Road base is being poured, lots of it,  the rattling of the roller truck is making the house shake and everything in it just like a 5.5 earthquake. As I sit here, I am shaking like an earthquake so are the dishes. Should I  just go to bed and pull the covers up? Bedroom happens to be on this side...have I made you feel sorry for me YET?

As I walked around the yard I thought " just find peace, change is inevitable" and it will get worse with the building of 16 new homes...like tap tap tap, pound. pound. (hammers). so deal with it.

Our roses took a beating this winter, was so happy to find these pretties blooming among the barnwood pieces in the yard.

How can you not find peace with GREEN it's so refreshing.
The ferns will reach over 4' as they enjoy the 80 degree weather.

The flowers and garden grows with anticipation,
it's nice to find joy with mother nature. Can you see my rusty wire basket...found that at acorn antique show, from Heidi. (she has the best rusty garden stuff).
So maybe by Christmas...we'll have new neighbors AND a paved road!

planning ahead

Mark the date...Joni and I are preparing NOW for the November 15th Fleattitude event held at the UTAH state fairgrounds (same building as vintage whites was held in March).

THIS will be our selling of ChRiStMaS designs created for your gift giving and home decorating all vintage inspired. We're getting our nails dirty, paints a flying, rubber stamp & paper designing, vintage fabrics, collections gathered, color sorting our STASHES, vintage ornies, entertaining in vintage...working on a creative display for our same area.

We look forward to seeing you then... let's savor the summer weather, the traveling adventures, family get togethers, enjoying hunting and gathering of all things vintage and all that mother nature has to offer before it turns cold and wet.

Carl and I really look forward to selling at Fleattitude in Pleasant grove on August 9th (saturday). We have some good pickin's for you. Such a fun eclectic event to come to.

If your going to some wonderful antique/vintage shows this summer..Please...you can let us know about them, hint hint!

If you see some neat Glamping going on...would love to see !
We travel...but love the motel life, so much easier, and no maintanance. Pretty sure it has something to do with our age!

Shopette at home...who knows when it will be open again, it's always a suprise to me too! But for now, nothing is planned and we are busy busy bees. Carl loves yard work, I don't know how he has patience for those weeds that pop up non stop. We could open a few days in june and some in july...and probably not on a weekend.

Have you heard me say "we just love being retired"...still TRUE... sometimes carl says he needs to go back to work for the rest! (I won't let him, oh no.) His problem...he has to fix everything in sight, there is no asking him, it's done before I know it...not complaining.

Pretty sure there won't be any animals in our life to tie us down...besides I get a gag reflex when I see a person kiss a dog or is it a dog kisses a person on the lips. Is that just Me? ugh nasty. (we did family pets when the children were at home, those days are over). I do love dogs. looking at a person sweating does the same gag thing. Is there something that just gags you?

We are loving on our grandchildren much more now, so precious to us.

Some things are meant to be

Sooner or later...I had to stop in to the former Just a bed of roses.
What a nice fit for this historic community.
what a name...to be LOYAL, just what a cycle should be.

With the striped awning down and new speaking windows, the LOYAL CYCLE CO. made a grand window plus created it's style.

Notice how "clean cut" this place is...come inside.

Here the old brick wall is covered with awesome bikes...see how it goes CLEAR BACK to the wall...no more tiny isle ways or big bulky counters (but we loved stacking them up each day & season).

The green is refreshing and naturalistic, gone are the grays. chocolate brown, old red...the've even added some fan lighting.

These hardwood floors got a nice good deep cleaning and repairs...they were so old and worn, yet I loved their creaky noise and old charm. This building has served many a customer in various ways...even dr. packer DDS. down the road said he did dentistry here, was a phone office.. number please, and a little cafe. There are photo's in the late 1800's when the streets were dirt and horse carriages lined main street.(okay, lets not start crying).

Here is the far right, this basket is the area where our general store counter was for checking out. Now stands a row of bikes. Can you see to the left, that whole stainless steel counter is GONE...all gone, making one complete big room! Pretty much love it!

Even though my heart was pounding for a few minutes to get out of the car to go look inside...I am glad after 4 months to finally have done it. It made me happy, and feel fortunate to have had 7 years in this space to search/create/sell and knew without a doubt it was someone elses time. To be a part of Farmingtons history. THIS is a very old building...yes it had it's flaws, unlike the new, but the price was right and the space worked for me just like it does for this new owner...how do you like the business hours...never need to worry about parking spots!

Thank you my dear friends for sharing those times...without you it would not have been worth it.

Some things are meant to be!

When was the last time you were here?

Lava Hot springs, Idaho...open all year except thanksgiving and Christmas day.  www.lavahotsprings.com

The pool furthest to the east is the hottest...112, yikes! The water runs under the sidewalks and dressing rooms making them toasty warm, no more freezing. The other temps a toasty 102 degrees.

Heaven & angels sings when your up to your chin in this pool! Rocks line the sides with tiny round rocks on the bottom, if you have sensitive feet wear sandals. 2.5 million gals of hot mineral spring water flows through here per day. They do not treat this water with chemicals. No smells.

Lava has been updated since we were last there...Looking to the furthest west is now a large mineral spring water pool the temperature of a perfect bathtub that doesn't cool down.

Makes you want to stay. relax. soak in the sunshine. forget your troubles and your aches and pains. Which I had plenty of those just coming off of the vintage whites market and nursing an annoying headcold.

There should be a sign on the entrance...leave your problems at the door.(heard a few people venting some dumb problems...I called it "disturbing the peace"). There is plenty of room to just simply move away.  The mountains are ugly from winter, but soon will be dripping with greens.

If it seems you could be the only ones there...I was told that bus loads could pull up, just warning you! Reservations would be necessary for the hotels/motels...not the springs.(I would not suggest tumbling waters motel across the road).

Need to wring out your suit?

You can take food in just nothing in glass.

Home Hotel since 1912...has had a make-over, much needed!
www.homehotel.com for all information.  Right next door to the pools. If you have a favorite place there, would love to know about it. The double bathtubs have the mineral water flowing into them also...what a bonus!

Carl said run in and see if the old rockers are still there from 30 years ago...sure enough! Just had to tell the receptionist my NEED ICE STORY. 30 years ago we ran down to the lobby and asked where the ice machine was...the little old man and lady were so cute and accommodating...she quietly walked to her refrigerator and brought out her ice cube tray and put them in a baggie! We could never forget that one!

We made a quick vow that we would not wait 10 more years to go back. We love our new semi-freedom!

p.s...if your worried about being "too fat, too white, too many vericose veins showing, too gray, too wrinkly, in  need of a new swimsuit...don't be, there is plenty of competition in these catagories. On the other hand...it's a bit romantic with newlyweds & youth & don't be offended when suits don't meet your personal standards...it's okay, it's okay (think I heard those words on the bachelor?).

Maddox in Perry is always delicious when traveling that direction.

Where in the world could you be this Saturday that could be anymore fun than vintage shopping @ Vintage whites market in the  GRANDBALLROOM Salt lake city...Utah state fairgrounds. www.vintagewhites.com for more information.
The building is stunning with giant crystal chandaliers, large arched windows, and a wide grand staircase.

Was so SUPER excited to see the weather forcast for this
Saturday...NO RAIN or SNOW expected!
SIXTY DEGREES

See you Saturday 10-5
Come spend the day and all your $$$

We can help if your suffering from "gardenitis" at the vintage whites market

Preparing for Vintage white market...weathered patina vintage projects (just a few). Bedsprings have been cut in half, now TWO people can enjoy owning them!

Clamps...oh my, my husband is an overachiever when I say something needs glued...out come the gigantic clamps for just the littlest piece to be fixed! Three wheel cart oozes with patina, all original colors.

Are you amazed at the trellis with real vines...I mean, how could we cut them out, it would be just wrong!

If you have vintage "garden-itis"...we can cure that when you shop our Pic-patina booth at Vintage whites March 8th. Promise there is SO MUCH MORE...just don't want to spoil it by showing too much.

Please take your SEAT

Pic your SEATing...
Did you go to Clearfield High?
These seats were in the auditorium from the beginning.
Not sure when they were removed.
Speaking of removed...they were from back in the day when you could chew bubblegum and stick it under the seats...uh huh...Carl removed loads of old hardened bubblegum, layers of dust and grime, shined them up with beeswax and orange oil and now they look like THIS! ( I always wish I had taken before photo's, but he's just so quick to fix things up).

The first two photo's are the same seats of 5 in a row, one on the end written in white original paint says "usher".  The  next two photo's are another grouping of 4 seats. NOW...these seats come apart, I think in groups of two or they ALL connect into one large row.

The last two photo's are the backs, nice metal hardware, seats fold up and they are sturdy. No breakage, nice patina and a little chippy on a few.

We have another grouping of 5 which have not been refinished up quite yet.

I just really want to take them to the vintage whites event, but if someone just had to have a grouping you can contact us @ justabedofroses@hotmail.com

we are working a pricing...

for now the group of 4 are 250.00 and the group of 5 are 300.00

What a treasure...we have been going to buy these from a guy for 2 years and finally did it (as you see we are enjoying our retirement time, if you like all work and no play!)

Will be sharing an antique dental cabinet next up for sale, all original, it's just beyond charming. So please check back.

(I'll also get some measurements on these chairs).

The shop here at home is NOT opened this weekend.

pic PATINA STYLE...is there anything else???

Patina...that's what you'll find and you'll want to pick@ our
Pic-Patina space Vintage whites Market March 8th 10:00 grand ball room Utah state fairgrounds.

I'm going to be very guarded about our patina style space...it's time worn, re-purposed, re-painted, beautiful items you'll want to enjoy in your life---with a past.

You know our style and we know yours...and that's why we are so excited for this event to get here quickly (well, no, we need some warmer weather to finish up some of our projects).

I'll post a peek (not going overboard because we want it to be a complete suprise) by the end of this week.

I know there will be a tea party going on and a class taught on lighted signs
so plan on spending the day. There will be a moving company there to help you to your truck
with your PATINA FINDS. Bring a husband if you really want to load up. As soon as I know where
our booth is, it will be announced here.
