SWISS DAYS...this Friday & Sat.

I don't know how many years Swiss days in Midway Utah has been going on, I do know that they do not have to advertise and at least 200 thousand attend this event in the beautiful rocky mountains.
Shellie and I love to ride up early just right before the walls of people and view all the hundreds of booths, mainly handmade artists selling their wares. Sometimes we buy and sometimes we just get inspired, and we always eat! We know some of the sellers and love to see what they have made for this big event, which they work at for a long time to get ready.
Here is Janae Matue's items, she is a tole painter and I have known her by doing the Kottage Kupboard boutique with her for (too) many years. She has painted childs chairs for halloween, shakers, peppermills coffee pots, cake savers, really you name it she paints something cool on it. This year cottages, spiders, bats, frogs snowmen, gingerbread and more. She said they have her facing main street, so you cant miss her!
Also I am waiting for pictures from Lyn Donovam who sells handmade santa's witches, dracula's etc. dresses them up in vintage jewelry and furs, she was in yesterday buying up some last minute accessories. She hand sculptures and bakes the faces on these also. She will be right in the front section and you just cant miss her, be sure to say Just a bed of roses sent you.

Then Rabbit cottage in Kaysville decided to give it another try this year...i don't know their location, but sure you will find them, they always do wonderful creative home decor.
Me...I am just not crazy enough to sell up there, thought I was, but really I know I cannot do swiss days! Besides my husband always has to work on that holiday so it's impossible because you need tons and tons of help to pull that off.
Good luck girls, will be keeping my fingers crossed that rain does not happen on Saturday...for any of us!

Swiss days, that brings back memories. I attended that for 20 years, then I jut wore out. JOhn and I stayed in the homestead the night before it started so I got there real early. It wasn't busy at all until I finished. I haven't been back.

Maye I should think about going again.

I know this is weird but I've never been to Swiss Days. I would love to go but hate crowds. Tell me what time you go to avoid them? Where is the best place to park? What is the best food?
Is it worth going just to see? Mimi

Lets see sue...the wall of crowds start about 9:00 a.m. friday morning!!! No kidding, and the isles are say as wide as a bedroom!
Shellie and i are laughing over you hating crowds...oh lets not forget the parking...do you like to walk miles? if not, be there at 7:00 a.m. I would think you would find something you would like there. My husband went once! But men do go. They sit on a chair under the big shade trees and watch the purchases the women buy, or haul them to the car.
It's crazy...but it's tradition.

She forgets we leave Bountiful at 6 in the morning, and still park clear down the street from the event. However the food is always worth the extra 10 hours on the treadmill the next day. hee hee :)Luckily my husband carries everything back to the car that I buy in intervals.

It looks like it will be chilly up there Friday morning...I would suggest no sandles or your feet will freeze. Jacket/sweater a must, capri pants would probably work.

Hope to see you guys up there...remember A54 facing Main Street!!! It is always pretty chilly in the mornings, wear layers cause it always seems to get hot around lunch time. Hoping for no rain on Saturday!!! I always have my booth open by 7 in the morning even though the show doesn't start until 8. There are two parking lots where free shuttles will take you into the show, one on the north end (turn at the first light before you get to Heber City). The second parking is on the South end, Main Street (turn on 100 S. in Heber and go West). See you there!!!

Thanks for posting some of my pictures for Swiss Days, hope to see you guys up there, A54 facing Main Street! It's always chilly in the mornings up there but usually by afternoon it gets pretty warm so dress in layers. Hopefully it won't rain on Saturday, even with rain it doesn't seem to slow the crowds down.
Friday it the bigest selling day for me, last year I sold out of all of my Halloween items on Friday. The show opens at 8 am but I always have my booth open by 7. There are two parking lots where they offer free shuttle service into the show. Coming from the North you can turn at the first light before getting into Heber City (Hwy 32) this will take you to a large parking lot and the shuttle will take you to the North side of the show (I'm on the South side). You can also go into Heber City and turn on 100 S. go west and you will run into another parking lot, that shuttle takes you down Main Street to the South side of the show (stops right in front of my booth). See you guys up there!!!
