Texas Road House saw us 2 nights...that's right, they are having their RIB FEST...

whatever...so good and had to go back for a New York Steak

I had Mr. Roses pull his frowny face as this may be his

last day with the red Toyota, he usually hangs on and on AND on to his vehicles.

Speaking of cemetaries...Carls 1968 Mustang has been buried deep inside the garage 15 years.

He had just fixed it up when we let our 16 yr. old drive it to school.

It was Mr. Roses second car, originally a gold mustang.

This is the results of the drive to school, rolled it into a drain ditch here in the country.

It's okay Tim we still LOVE YOU 

Now Eldest son wants to restore it.

It brought back so many memories of our early dating/married years.

We laugh that I would take the kids to the Grandparents home on weekends, no seat belts

Nor car seats...4  little kids bouncing all around

And it was SO HARD TO DRIVE

but I didn't know any better.

And I have no idea how I did it when looking back...it sure was fun

 listening to those Charlie Pride/Beach Boy 8 track tapes!

Meet Joni...Decorator... Stampington Mixed Media & altered art designer

Joni Greenman works from home ON CALL for Stampington & co. they create the Somerset books LIFE and

WHERE WOMEN CREATE magazines (plus many more titles) ALL of us ADORE and have a slight ADDICTION to.

Joni frequently receives packages in the mail from Stampington of new designs in stamps and products.

She then creates and writes a tutorial for the design created.

Frequently she sends in many photos to be chosen for upcoming publications.

(you may want to ask her about this when you come in).

We should try this out.

She showed me a book called INSPIRATIONS 2008 in which there are probably 20 of her tutorials

which MAY I SAY are creative ad beyond spectacular

Would expect no less from Joni.

I have mentioned on this blog before that while in deep study of a new LIFE issue I would see a few pages and say to

myself...my goodness... this looks JUST LIKE Joni's work, not even realizing she worked for them.

Sure enough...there was her name!

How exciting JONI!

Wouldn't you love her job?

At Just a Bed of Roses we are PRIVILEDGED  and EXCITED to enjoy the benefits of her work.

She has now joined the shop in creating for us to purchase...Yeah for us!

Not only that...BIG NEWS here, she will be working a few days a week in display and helping

you with your purchases.

Joni and I go back 20 years... to a little shop called Country Way gifts and Antiques

in which I owned on 10th  Wash.blvd Odgen. 1990.

She was feminine & Pretty VICTORIAN and consigned the lovliest of vintage gifts with lace and satin and home decor.

She was shabby vintage chic before there was even a name for it.

After I sold the business we rented a booth at the Quilted Bear in the General store in Salt Lake, we would haul our vintage goodies every week and re-do our space making it look just like eye candy.

We always took her most handsome little son Bridger with us.

He was an angel.

(Her cute daughter being in school, my 4 children in school also.)

Joni loves her job of wife and mother first of all in life.

She has a B.S. degree in Family & consumer science, she worked at McKay Dee Hospital

and in 1985 began creating for local boutiques.

 Ogden Quilted Bear opened and we had a big space rented together and filled it up

with our vintage treasures again.

Joni became window and store displayer/buyer for quilted bear for 15 years when it moved to the North end of the Newgate Mall I'm sure you have seen her fabulous windows.

Joni decorates LIKE A MAGAZINE

Purely fascinating and I learned alot from her.

She lives in the most amazing Victorian home in which she & husband designed along

with a yard to drool over.

A piece of art always in the making.

She has always loved antiques.

I tell you all this as Joni is quite MISS HUMBLE PIE

and she will not tell you of her accomplishments without a little prying.

(you have my permission to drag it out of her)!

You will have to come see them each week as I know she will be bringing in many fun

creative pieces and you will have no resistance to leave them in the shop.

She worked last Saturday and I just had to giggle out loud

when I saw some of the things she had done with displays.

of courseI noticed every detail

and like many of you... you will too!

By the end of summer we should be about as charming as we can get!

Right now...Who wants to think abou the end of summer?

Vintage Shabby PINK couches for creating room

There are many fun ones and tea stained varieties to chose from.

Working on getting a "NEW vintage look" for my workspace at home.

Shellie suggest I use this shabby pink couch set as a sitting area, thinking

it may go right in the middle of the room. To relax and ponder through

the wonderous magazines I have collected.

Sounds great to me, don't you think so to?

Would anyone know the year this may be, I heard it came from someones great grandmas

and that person was possibly in his 40's.

I know pinks were popular in 50's and 60's

and this seems older to me.

It is THE HEAVIEST PIECES I HAVE EVER FELT.

Can't quite figure if it is wool or nylon or a blend.

When I decide on the rooms theme then the fabric

will co-ordinate so plan on pictures of the re-do SOMEDAY.

Hoping this summer.

You say why not leave it PINK...well, this does need recovered as a cat had

many a day sharpening its paws on it.

Who knows what wonderful fabric its going to be wearing next.

Each piece has the springs tightened up like this, so the couch is really firm

not like so many couches you find that are saggies.

You know them, you sit and land to the ground

Cute style right!

If I find anything different and decide not to use this set be sure to let me

General store in Layton is filling up fast...the owner just returned from a big buying trip. Besides... I got a new SUPRISE PRESENT for my garage and one stall had to be totally cleaned out IMMEDIATLY to make room for it. Stall #2 is preparing for another BIG SUPRISE PRESENT to fill that space.(back breaking and worth it!)

You know what that means for me... besides riding in style and listening to the 60's music and forgetting to stop off to work because life is SO fun in a new Mercedes? I must name it, its my cat on 4 wheels, charcoal gray, PURRS so soft cause I'm always petting it, just have to feed it gas...

It MEANS that I am helping load up the GENERAL STORE ALSO...look for the tea dyed tags and weekly drop offs of great deals.
