Roses & rust...in Boise

In Boise, Idaho last weekend, their first event in this area.

 www.rosesandrustvintagemarket.com

The famous Lipstick gypsy sold her wares...this was also a vintage trailer show all inside.

We adore the stuff we Hunted for...and quickly purchased. All my photo taking was done 2 1/2 hours after the show started...I'm not about to stop and photo while shopping!

The vendors tried hard to make an inviting summer presentation

This guy was creative with metal objects.

my oh my...the vintage clothes this proprietor has!

Trailer glamping...seems to be the rage.
Miss gracies trailer, she had a large space.
Would really and should of purchased this piece, but left it for someone else.
Dont feel sorry for me...I get my share!

Here's the one you can cry for me over...I would have purchased this had I not been to late.
Carl could have built us a nice shed right under this beauty!

Here's the middle of miss gracies, cute girl.

Cant remember some of the names, one was farmhouse who does farm chicks show and also sells at antique world antique mall. By the way we spent 4 hours in that mall. On the 3rd friday night each month between 6 and 9 p.m. vendors put their booths on sale..

This is Good goods & co...located across the street from the fairpark of this event. She brands her shop very well with her logo. It's around the size of the former retail just a bed of roses. Cheri displays clean cut and very  nice.
This is Cheri the shopkeeper in aqua, I have been on a private shopkeeper internet site with her for maybe 7 years. shopkeepers need to network and vent at times.
It was really special to meet her LIVE! (ok, caught me, yes...I have...gained that 30 lbs back that took me a year to lose...so DUMB, ugh.).

I hope you can go there if you come to boise.
If you stop by any antique shop they have a guide to all the shops in town and in surrounding ones.
There is a SHOP HOP loop of 10 shops THIS WEEKEND june 27th and 28th. state. glenwood. chinden.
start at good goods for your map. 5865 glenwood street.

Enchanting objects fill this place and she consigns out her little outbuildings. They sold at the event.
I found me a vintage dr. bag just the right size for a purse...going to use it.

On state street.

This swing set beauty was outback...with a layaway sign on it. Oh what pain as I truely would
have come back for it, it has my name written all over it, why didn't they wait? so anyone out there, please
watch for me one...just like it!

Popular westside drive in on state.
had some different items on their menu.
Maybe I'll see you there digging in the same booth...There will also be a quilt show going.

Sweet gatherings opens every 3 months in roosevelt...their next show: aug. 1 & 2  fbook friend them for updates and photos of their previous events.

It was our 41st Anniversary so it was nice to get out of town, in between weddings and funerals.
Hope your summers going well and I'll be back with "purchase" photo's.

working on a re-do of the just a bed of roses shop-ette...it will be after mid july for sure.

Chick flicks...in spokane

lipstick gypsy, more shabby and pinks with a touch of nature, animal friends.

Olive and rose filled with unique patina style vintage

Lots of furniture pieces around, many on the "stuff you don't see everyday" type thing.

Creative lighting...this piece was clear punch bowl cups covering for the chandalier john bobs.

Pits of a pear brought their sweet glamper...you could walk through and purchase items from inside.
I took many photo's, dont know where they are hiding. they were awesome and selling tons. Yeah for Tonya and Brandon who took the big plunge.

shops piled high and stacked deep, made it to where you would need to go around and around.
We shopped 15 hours in the 2 days...400 spaces filled to capacity, 300 vendors.

Mixing industrial. farmhouse. whimsey. shabby. chippy. weathered. worn. patina...all together.

I love they keep it antique vintage. Did find one booth with new but totally vintage style...will share that on another post of what we purchased.  Aqua, creams, reds and pinks still the main colors.

truely my photo's are nothing compared to what was there.

Ladders. doors. scaffolding created high displays for lighting and vignettes.

I spotted this within the 2nd hour...you can see it came home with us! love love love.

I was suprised at all the scaffolding used this year for displays. they created an airy open space, the
more grungy covered with paint and cement the better they looked.

 There was alot of creativity...
I'm not showing you the crowded big isles...until 3:00 p.m. it's hard to move the first day.
Love the second day, although 1/2 to see, still wonderful items to pick from and you can easily shop inside the booths and talk to an owner. a very tired owner and their many helpers.

My favorite is watching the stuff go out the door...proud new owners of some great vintage pieces.
Sorry I didn't have photo's of vine street antiques from salt lake city. Maybe I can get some from these guys. They had a fabulous space. Proud of Utah vendors for sure! hard hard work...hugs to them!

Here a CHICK there a CHICK in spokane

Just in from the fabulous FARM CHICK EVENT in spokane
There was a time you could get there at 7:00 a.m. and be at least #12 in line...but not now days! (and it's okay!)

Inside the door is always a display to set off the theme and invite you in...isn't this sweet, oops, I mean TWEET? (paper bags that look like a birdhouse).

2 days of heavy duty shopping...seemed like a circus...but it was more entertaining and cost more than a circus!  Vendors phenominal with their goods flying off their displays.

One of our favorite finds, industrial piece, have no idea yet what is original use was. Mr. roses went one way shopping and I went another, we met up once in awhile to see what each had to haul off to the trailer. We shopped the show 15 hours! I think we deserve and earned a prize, in and out we hauled vintage finds!

I always wish I had taken a zillion photo's but then I'd miss out on the "good stuff", shoppers are quick now days.
I'll be back with more to blog about this show...need to go sort out which to keep and which to resell.
We also did 4 other days of antique/and thrift shop buying...I'll try to take some photo's of what we're keeping and also what will be coming your way...
If you go to the farm chick website there are a few thousand photo's people did instagrams with there.

Change is inevitable

Change came to us...beginning mid march. This sign officially made our property a CORNER LOT. It might seem itty bitty to some, at first to us it seemed okay, not anticipating the real process of developement. We were the first home out here 20 years ago among hundreds of farming acres. Not complaining, I like people and neighbors. It was dark which kind of scared me.

The dirt flies...lots of dirt that gets dug and stirred around, pretty much every day...12 or more hours per day. Our windows/porches get dirt coated. Noises like beep beep, humming/grinding of big trucks going back and forth, water lines get cut, the road in front sounds like thunder everytime someone goes over it...still, it's quite interesting.

Patience is needed. For the developer too, especially when it rained and turned to mud. I might just have to get me that fence on my wish lists. declutter my vintage piles, even more. (to keep up with the jones'  soon to come?)  Acre lots are alot of work. Am I whining? mmm... Probably!

Road base is being poured, lots of it,  the rattling of the roller truck is making the house shake and everything in it just like a 5.5 earthquake. As I sit here, I am shaking like an earthquake so are the dishes. Should I  just go to bed and pull the covers up? Bedroom happens to be on this side...have I made you feel sorry for me YET?

As I walked around the yard I thought " just find peace, change is inevitable" and it will get worse with the building of 16 new homes...like tap tap tap, pound. pound. (hammers). so deal with it.

Our roses took a beating this winter, was so happy to find these pretties blooming among the barnwood pieces in the yard.

How can you not find peace with GREEN it's so refreshing.
The ferns will reach over 4' as they enjoy the 80 degree weather.

The flowers and garden grows with anticipation,
it's nice to find joy with mother nature. Can you see my rusty wire basket...found that at acorn antique show, from Heidi. (she has the best rusty garden stuff).
So maybe by Christmas...we'll have new neighbors AND a paved road!

planning ahead

Mark the date...Joni and I are preparing NOW for the November 15th Fleattitude event held at the UTAH state fairgrounds (same building as vintage whites was held in March).

THIS will be our selling of ChRiStMaS designs created for your gift giving and home decorating all vintage inspired. We're getting our nails dirty, paints a flying, rubber stamp & paper designing, vintage fabrics, collections gathered, color sorting our STASHES, vintage ornies, entertaining in vintage...working on a creative display for our same area.

We look forward to seeing you then... let's savor the summer weather, the traveling adventures, family get togethers, enjoying hunting and gathering of all things vintage and all that mother nature has to offer before it turns cold and wet.

Carl and I really look forward to selling at Fleattitude in Pleasant grove on August 9th (saturday). We have some good pickin's for you. Such a fun eclectic event to come to.

If your going to some wonderful antique/vintage shows this summer..Please...you can let us know about them, hint hint!

If you see some neat Glamping going on...would love to see !
We travel...but love the motel life, so much easier, and no maintanance. Pretty sure it has something to do with our age!

Shopette at home...who knows when it will be open again, it's always a suprise to me too! But for now, nothing is planned and we are busy busy bees. Carl loves yard work, I don't know how he has patience for those weeds that pop up non stop. We could open a few days in june and some in july...and probably not on a weekend.

Have you heard me say "we just love being retired"...still TRUE... sometimes carl says he needs to go back to work for the rest! (I won't let him, oh no.) His problem...he has to fix everything in sight, there is no asking him, it's done before I know it...not complaining.

Pretty sure there won't be any animals in our life to tie us down...besides I get a gag reflex when I see a person kiss a dog or is it a dog kisses a person on the lips. Is that just Me? ugh nasty. (we did family pets when the children were at home, those days are over). I do love dogs. looking at a person sweating does the same gag thing. Is there something that just gags you?

We are loving on our grandchildren much more now, so precious to us.
