New York is broken

Nevi (wearing red) learned about
hurricane Sandy
hitting New York
she said...
"New york is broken,we need to fix it."
So with her cousins they held a successful bake sale
at their grammys (becky stratford-west haven)
email:mothestratford@yahoo.com
this week for the victims of Sandy.
They have also sent their story to
Ellen Degeneres show
(if she picks this up I'll post again).

ANYTIME they hold a bake sale
I'm going...
it was really REALLY good!

I mentioned several of my retailer friends in
New Jersey were affected by Sandy.
Joanne of www.summerhousenj.com
sent this photo of her boys
just this week...

WE NEED SOCKS!
They were having clothing sent to their community - but
NO SOCKS.
No electricity, gas, very cold, sleep huddled.
Dump trucks all day long going by.
She doesnt even mention her shop.
She mentioned many of her neighbors have
lost everything.
actually we hear very little
probably due to electricity.

It made me REALLY realize how ill
prepared I am for an emergency,
both at home and at work.
I ask myself...so why don't you do
something more about it???

How about you?

If you can help these two causes/states
here is your opportunity.

Oh, and please send NEW socks of any size:
815 OAK TERRACE POINT
Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, 08742

I'm sure they would feel blessed by you.

someone else is praying for

To my friends and yours back east
whom own shops, have families, those business'whom provide us
wholesale to our shops that fill us with our needs.
They STILL have no electricity,
their neighborhoods wiped out or
being protected by officers
with machine guns to protect from
looting, they can't get to their
parents in other towns for lack of gas and security.
They huddle together as families to stay warm.
Their streets full of sand and
their trees uprooted.
Staying alive and protected
is their main focus.
Pray for them, for their safety, that they may
get the help they need soon.

Love collectors...

Upon the rooftop

Out of storage comes the
Christmas lighting.
How could I have
grandchildren living here
and not have outdoor lights!
(it's a good excuse
and it worked!)

Today we enjoyed our hunt
through the Acorn antique show.
They are opened Sunday also.

This will be a Christmas feature outside and tie in with our theme.
(to be announced soon)

When we bought it we were
clueless as to what to do with it.
By the time I got home
it was 100% figured out,
no, not telling
you have to come see!
Old mail boxes are heavy
it took us both to carry it out.

What would life be like if there were not collectors that rescue
great stuff?
The mailbox was destined to go into a recycling truck, when a quick thinking collector waved some cash...and now it will be enjoyed by many at the shop.

reclaimed.

B for Brenda, it will be painted light pink to match my workroom.
B as in boulder colorado.
Also bought some great galvanized
1950's pans for my stuff.
(will show later date)

The many colors of Christmas
is showing up at the shop now
