Get Healthy Before Spring Time!

With spring time just around the corner, it's time to get healthy and think healthy! During the winter it's easy to settle in and get used to a routine, but that routine may or may not include exercising, taking multi-vitamins, or eating healthy, for example. If you've struggled with some or all of these throughout the winter time, it's never too late to get back on track and come up with a regimen that you will stick with. It may seen challenging at first, but it will definitely pay off. Here are some ideas to get you going:

Be Careful with Your Food Selections:

It's easier said than done, but when you're at the deli or a fast food joint, don't pick the worst thing on the menu. Eat in moderation and go for healthy foods such as fruit, vegetables, fish/proteins, foods that will feed your body with the nutrition it deserves. Over time picking healthier foods off of the menu will become a habit and your body will thank you for it!

Take Your Multi-Vitamins:

Do you take multi-vitamins regularly? Multivitamins are excellent vitamins to take and are also important for your body every day too. Of course taking multi-vitamins does not mean eating less veggies, fruits, whole grains, proteins. You should be eating healthy and also taking daily Nature's Best multivitamin supplements simultaneously so that you will receive the best benefits from both your food and vitamins.

Try a New Fitness Class:

If you're getting bored with your fitness routine or don't currently have one, perhaps it's time to implement one. Find out which classes your gym offers and sign up for a few. You may find a Pilates class that you love, a Zumba class that allows you to have fun and dance, or a cycling class that hits the spot. Whatever it may be, get moving! Getting fit before spring time will improve your mood, help you cope with daily stress, and allow you to develop a positive fitness routine!

Don't overwhelm yourself with must-do activities. Learn to relax and enjoy the spring time while staying healthy. It will be worth it and your spring time will positive bloom both outside and in your life!

Dreaming of a White {and Healthy} Christmas - Guest Post

Now that your bellies are full from Thanksgiving you may be experiencing turkey remorse or hoping you can stay healthy in time for Christmas to roll around. I know I can count a couple of times where I've been sick on Christmas day and it's because I didn't take care of myself by eating right, exercising, and taking time to relax when I know I'm overdoing it. I admit it's really easy to get sucked into the craziness of the season and if you don't take time to take care of yourself before and during the holidays you'll find yourself becoming run down and sick. So how do I rejuvenate myself during the holidays so that I can gear up for my perfect white Christmas, which includes fun activities with my family, shopping events, and traveling? Here are some simple ways that I've applied to my lifestyle that help me through the holidays and all year round.

One way to stay healthy is by taking vitamins on a regular basis. I'm not talking once a week - I'm talking once a day with a multi-vitamin or individual vitamins depending on what your body needs (I take extra Calcium vitamins because I'm allergic to dairy). Vitamins not only help you stay healthy, but they keep your body strong and ready to fight off bugs should they threaten your body during the winter. www.seven-seas.com is a great site to stock up on your vitamins and order them online - it has everything from vitamin C to glucosamine. That way on Christmas day instead of fighting an ugly cold, which I did when I was in High School (not fun), you'll be smiling! Not to mention you'll be full of vibrant good health thanks to proper nutrition (don't think that vitamins are a substitute for good health though!) and vitamins that help improve your daily living.

Are you remembering to sit back and relax? I for one am guilty of getting wrapped up (ha ha literally) in staying busy, wrapping presents, and forgetting to enjoy Christmas time. It's easy to want the best looking house with pretty decorations, the best presents for kids and grand kids, or to simply fall into the "let's stay busy" mentality. However, the reality is that Christmas comes and goes and you need to enjoy it while it is here! If this means slowing down the pace and really enjoying it, then make time to do so. Go shopping and sit down for a bit and enjoy the Christmas tree at the shop. Take your kids to a park with lights. Eat more dinners in and focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Believe me, this is what will get you in a holiday spirit; not focusing on decorating and staying busy (even though that is fun too)!

Another way I stay healthy during Christmas time is by exercising. Oh I know how easy it is to stay inside where it is warm. I find myself very addicted to my fireplace in Utah! However, this isn't going to keep your body in tip top shape either mentally or physically. Your body craves exercise whether you choose to believe it or not and when you're cooped inside due to having a foot of snow outside your door - it's okay to shovel and take off to the gym for a quick workout - your body will thank you for it. Plus you'll feel a lot more healthier and proud of yourself!

So I hope you have a very merry and white Christmas. Don't get discouraged if you often would like to ditch the diet and not exercise during the holidays - believe me it's tempting I know! The reality is that you'll feel a lot better that you made the extra effort to stay healthy during the holidays while still enjoying everything lovely that comes with having a white Christmas. Have fun decorating and soaking up some Christmas memories, while maintaining your health and your sanity! ;)

Easy Ways to Improve Your Daily Living when a Summer Slump Hits

If you’ve caught yourself slipping into a late summer slump, don’t get discouraged! As seasons transition so do you and sometimes it’s easy to get down and out due to work, friendships, or just life in general. However, instead of being overly frustrated and wanting to throw in the towel, think of ways that will lift up your spirits in time for the fall time to arrive (or sooner)! Here are some simple tips that you might or might not have thought about. Either way, actually implementing your goals and making them a reality will certainly help you get out of a summer slump in no time at all.

Keep Tabs on Your Health

Have you been eating horribly and not paying attention to your health? It might be easy to let yourself go during the summer months, but the truth is that your health is important. Consider eating healthier or making an appointment with your doctor to schedule a yearly physical. It never hurts to make sure that something else is not going on, such as an over or under active thyroid or other health issues.

Another aspect of health that should be paid attention to is the health of your mouth and especially your teeth! If you haven’t gotten your teeth cleaned in a while there’s nothing more that will make you smile than sparkly and clean teeth! Find a dentist that you will love, such as WDental Dallas and have them check out your teeth to make sure that everything is in working order.

Get a Planner and Stay More Organized

Are you taking on too many activities? Perhaps the reason you are feeling down or swamped is because you’ve overcommitted yourself or you’re just not good with organization. Instead of giving up, buy a trendy planner and write down all that you need to accomplish! It’s a lot easier to make a plan and implement feasible daily goals as opposed to becoming frustrated and giving up all together.

Speaking of goals, a huge part of improving your daily living is not only planning goals, but outlining practical goals. Not every goal is feasible right away, so if you’re feeling blue due to not achieving something you worked very hard for, keep trying. Start small but still reach for the stars. Also, if you don’t fulfill a dream right away, it doesn’t mean that you’re a failure. Cut yourself some slack and love yourself more. Instead of feeding into negative thoughts, transform your thinking and think of ways to improve your life. By improving your daily living now, your fall time will be one that you’ll never forget.
