my mother tells me that my sisters

are going on a diet.

I say...not without me

especially if there is a $100.00 cash reward

to the first one to lose 15 lbs.

Last Tuesday we weighed in.

If you've been reading this blog since the new year

you'll know that we are eating healthy this year,

but not on a diet and have lost 24 lbs. and

Mr. 30 lbs and we've kept it off.

Thought this would be a good

incentive to step it up a bit,

sharpen the saw,

focus and lose THE REST.

Besides a little competition

between sisters and NOW the men

is healthy

right?

It's working

and that's what matters.

finding new ways...

My green smoothies are turning a little brown,

(this one looks like a root beer float doesn't it?

due to beets and more vegetables.

I'm trying, okay!

We don't do banana smoothies or icy cold ones.

But we do love them made with

spinach, fruit choices...

always an orange then strawberries,

pineapple, apple, plums

whatever is available 

add flaxseed oil

water or vanilla almond milk.

always BE PREPARED with your

spinach and kale bags

even if you have to freeze in smaller bags,

I do that alot.

Kale a little bitter

add stevia if you have to.

Found this sprouted bean trio at costco

excellent protein and a little crunchy

cooks up really fast

IDEAL

because anything sprouted

is more nutritious

aren't they pretty

added them to a salad today,

just keep them cooked up to add

to whatever your eating.

It's fun and necessary to be on watch for new foods

especially when your not use to cooking

just healthy stuff all your life.

Eclectic Vignettes in the new workspace

Nice Patina style elements

some very special estates

we have bought from.

In between dusting sawdust,

oiling furniture

wiping down windows and blinds

razoring paint

touching up paint

painting

carrying TONS of product and stuff

into their new places,

I've been creating vignettes

all around the room.

This way I can BALANCE out colors of

antique silvers, golds,

whites, tans, pinks

splashes of vintage color,

antique woods and painted furniture

making the room enjoyable

for inspiration soon to create in.

Since this is a workspace

things I work with

are incorporated into the vignettes

meaning the displays will change.

Then there are keepers

to be treasured and enjoyed

such as this adorable silverplate trophy vase

what a cutie!

Adding industrial containers

in galvanized, zinc, rust

to store goods.

These have been the most fun

this year to search and rescue.

the doors are now closed

until the room is finished

and the creative work begins...

just in time for

 a new season

as planned.

This morning

I woke early and just sat out there

enjoying the fresh paint and carpet smells,

realizing all the hard work

that goes along with this

transformation.

so thankful

and happy

we chose

to

REDO.

The stainless steel counter was installed today,

right now I just don't want to fingerprint it!

LOVE IT

Tomorrow the old sink and faucet go back in.

And best of all

A NEW AIR CONDITIONER

(much needed)

My new favorite thing...

my cheese/dairy loving son Tim taught me this one.

and instead of smothering in butter and salt

squeeze and drench 1/2 a lime

over your corn.

newly acquired clawfoot bathtub 5' size

Just like Grandma's farmhouse

because this one has some Ogden History.

It came from the Eccles Art center on Jefferson,

behind this center is a carriage house and above it

is an apartment which use to be

for the caretaker of the gardens.

(you could google search this place.)

the inside porcelain gently used and immaculate

for what its age must be, no rust or chips

and I believe it to be the original porcelain.

(although some dirt I did not clean out cause

it was just too hot outside)

way better than my own clawfoot bathtub.

Mr. putting on the legs of many colors.

When tubs were put into place most times

it was impossible to paint the backs of them.

(hey that happened in my own home!)

Here you'll see 2 colors of paint, one

a antiquey green, another aqua.

both pretty, but peeling and would need

to be removed.

Here the 4 beautifully designed claw feet

original to this tub and working condition.

You will see on claw #2 the bronze color, I

believe that to be the original.

These too would need a make-over.

we took ours and had them brass plated.

but now days you can do most anything.

Sometimes it's best to talk to someone in

a car body shop.

this shows the back of the tub closer, which

is nice because of the non painted surface.

when we refinished our tub we were told to use

a car enamel paint...easily handpainted on.

we did a white.

This is heavy cast iron.

But last year I covered over it with the dark brown

house paint we painted the bath and bedroom walls in.

A plumber will happily be able to get the

right hardware for installing and you can

get some vintage style hardware for it.

this tub does have hardware in silver,

I would think from the 60's.

again, the whole back

without the legs attached.
