A Hoola Hoop summer...

Any of this going on lately?
It is quite adorable (when YOUR not the mother)
This picture was on the back of a knitting leaflet that came from Mickys knitcraft studio on 27th.
Ogdenites remember that sweet place and wonderful Mickey?
That was a good 25 years ago, Micky had that old home stacked with handwork supplies
floor to ceiling and she KNEW where everything was.
Were you into counted cross-stitching like I was in the 80's?
I would never do that now and at that time
I was raising 4 (wild) children!
It's fun to look back isn't it.

Sneak away to Just a bed of roses to relax and see what's new/alot of vintage has arrived.
A huge shabby white ornate mirror, black vintage crystal chandalier in 2 sizes,
french style home decor
Rose purses in white/black/pink arriving this week and a handbag style
everyone has been waiting for since November.

What can you do with these vintage handmade flower squares for only 6.00 each?
There is probably 20 of them.
Pillow, summer banner, framed and sure originally was for a quilt.

Come get refreshed with a complimentary ice cold bottled water!
See you this week!

Vintage Flower Garden make-over during the 4th of July Holiday

A beautiful morning isn't it...Mr. Roses and I worked on a vintage yard decor make-over.

Our yard was just feeling a little too  pink, purple, white with splashes of yellow...a little too dull
 I suppose for us.
After all, a grandmothers garden were flowers of EVERY hue?
right?

We saw this idea at Gardners village in front of a gift shop, they had taken a giant antique trunk
 which had beautiful garden of
flowers spilling from it...and we instantly knew that was for us.

We placed the trunk where it would get sprinkler water well, drilled many holes in the bottom
for some decent drainage and since we didn't pay much for the trunk  (by the way don't you love
the neat colored stripes on it) we felt
like it was a nice display to enjoy for little money paid.

Now almost all planted, with some colorful asiatic lillies that will fill in really full and big
and will add bolder splashes of colors to our old fashioned yard.
I'm using old  metal wood burning stove pokers to hold up the flowers for awhile.

The fourth of July was a special day with excitement everywhere.
Long before the high school band marked time in the village square....

Fireworks:
Fireworks, fireworks!
Oh, what a joy
For the wide-eyed girl
and the wide-eyed boy
Who watch a flaming ball
burst into spray
a shower of sparks
making night like day.
red sparks and green sparks
and silver sparks glow.
to be greeted by a rapturous
and long-drawn Ooooh!
Fireworks, fireworks,
lighting the sky
What a glorious ending
to the fourth of July!

Ours was spent with the grandchildren watching the Eaglewood golf course display of fireworks,
what a spectacular setting it was for everyone who came to enjoy the
peace and beauty of this day and evening there.
Hoping yours was every bit as special.
See you this week!
Are you loving this weather!
I'm going back outside now to refinish an antique pie cupboard, primitive chest,
child antique desk, and some odds and ends, even some shabby mirrors.
My kind of day!

Hoarding at it's MOST SPECTACULARist in St. George and more...

Butterfields in St. George on St. george Blvd. south side.
opens at 1:30 p.m. I told her I would advertise.
The red SELLING OUT SIGN...just a sales tactic
SHE WILL NEVER SELL OUT!
IMPOSSIBLE and she loves
this stuff just too much!
Husband found  THIS SIGN...had no idea there was a DOWNSTAIRS!
and this is what I found down there.
Total overwhelmed, but found one item will share with you sometime.

Stairway...yes hold onto the handrail
ALL ROOMS were this way
Dont forget there is a big garage out back that I would bet hasn't been opened
in many a year!
Shhhhhhhhhhhh.... didn't tell her I took these pictures.
Where to even start?
The thing I bought was ON TOP of a pile.
No digging this year for me.
The WHOLE upstairs rooms WERE THIS WAY...display cases FULL TO THE BRIM
STACKED FLOOR TO CEILING... much nicer stuff upstairs.
She is a treat to meet almost like a whole story book could be written about her
she intrigued me that much..
Just a note on the heat...
she only has a fan blowing behind HER!
And you know St. George is as hot as you know where...
just warning you
It may be like IN AND OUT Burgers
That's why I only bought 2 things
would have stayed all day.
Pricing not cheap
some are outdated prices from years ago though
it could be a bargain now!

Also went to Urban Chic on the North side of road and more WEST...you'll like.

Went to Tarzan and Cats at Tuachan outdoor amphitheater, didn't love these
shows this year...to many apes and cat dancings for me!
Next year though: Wizard of Oz and Grease...Must see!
You can find motels/show packages.
Try the Marriotts.
The rage down there was called 25th Main cafe, which was a diner that sold
yummy cupcakes (peanut butter chocolate was MMMM), and people were flocking
in for lunch...seemed a bit oddly decorated, I had a like/not like as some of the
art work was too off the wall weird for me.
Aqua was all good.
Guess we are use to these places up North.
Wasn't tempted for lunch, if you go there let me know!

In & Out Burgers... SAVED the Marriage

It MUST BE HOW IT GOT ITS NAME... as you can see from this menu
Love It... how easy is that!
ANYONE can say I'll have a #1 #2 or a #3

That is why it must be making BIG BooKoo Bucks
cause they get you IN AND OUT
The  red and white decor is quite refreshing.
Lots of kids too, but they go
IN AND OUT
REALLY FAST TOO!

Must show you the DRIVE-UP WINDOW MENU...
easy AGAIN!
and  AFFORDABLE
You just want to keep going back

Cheerful hard working employees

One was taking piles of the biggest REAL POTATOES
and slicing them fresh into these wonderful homemade french fries.
VERY CLEAN PLACE
even with lots of people
going IN AND OUT
ALL OF THE TIME.

But you really kept reading to see how it  SAVED OUR MARRIAGE
and since this is true I must go on...
Mr. Roses in the middle is smiling
He always does around food.

I'll make it quick...
It was our  38th Anniversary (to be fair we had a nice lunch that day) on our way to St. George.

We had a big antique shopping day the day before, I call it "working vacations"... then the drive etc.
and we wanted something light to eat
NOW GET THIS:
The Motel was close to McDonalds.
I know what your thinking... as I WAS SAYING THIS:
I am not going to McDonalds, haven't been there for 20 years and not going on OUR anniversary.
So HE starts driving anywhere and saying "well what do you want?"
As he is going to weird places with no restaurants and I just couldn't decide...IMAGINE THAT!

CAN ANY MAN JUST GO GET THE YELLOW PAGES???

I was having some very NAUGHTY WORDS go through my mind
and HE easily could have too!
(tired and old, old and tired)

Then low and behold I SPIED a sign that said In and Out Burgers
IT
SAVED THE MARRIAGE
and we lived HAPPILY EVER AFTER that episode
and most important HE had to APOLOGIZE!
(cause he didn't hold in as many words as I did in my opinion
and he drove left when he should have turned right
and it was our Anniversary
so he must be perfect on that day, right?)

That's how you stay married 38 years
(you keep most of those words inside of you the best you can)
and when THEY DON'T...they must fork out
alot of money to you as your gathering up
new clothes, more new clothes, cupcakes, vintage decor etc!

But now I have to stay this extra large size till the clothes wear out
Darn!
